Alliance Trust Headquarters in Dundee Marketgait

29/02/2008

Work has started on site for the new £13 million five storey headquarters office for the Alliance trust.  Forty four number 750mm diameter bored piles have been installed and groundbeams are now constructed.  The steel frame consisting of cellular composite beams are currently being erected and should be complete in 6 weeks. The use of cellular beams has utilised the structural zone of the floor makeup for the use of service. Create engineering have worked closely with mechanical engineers (Greenroom) to coordinate exact hole positions within each beam of the building.

Particular attention has been given to the front facade exposed columns. The columns support the edge of the building over the vehicle drop of zone and have been designed for vehicle impact load. Dummy columns have been installed adjacent to the main structural columns to make up the number of exposed columns to eight (a significant number for the Alliance Trust) providing the dummy columns also added to the protection to the main structural columns.

Work on the new office development is due to be complete in March 2009.
