Edinburgh Academy Hockey Pavilions

  • Date: 2014-2015
  • Architect: Richard Murphy Architects
  • Client: The Edinburgh Academy
  • Location: Edinburgh
  • Sector: Public - Sports
  • Value: £1.3 million

One of two sports pavilions at the site, this new build was constructed first so that the other pavilion (the rugby pavilion) could be renovated afterwards.

This steel frame with timber infill required piling, despite its low loading. The site was once used as a plant nursery, so the soil conditions were very poor.

Prior to the construction of the pavilion, we also provided services during the construction of the hockey pitches themselves.
